Why and How Trees are Pruned or Removed:

Safety First: Trees are living and breathing things just like us. They get sick, injured, and obviously die. However just as we look after one’s self, trees can be maintained to live a healthier and longer life. Tree pruning or removals are also very important for safety reasons. More often than not, arborists are tasked with removing unsafe, weak, or dead brittle trees that now threaten person or property. This should be avoided at all cost since climbing hazardous trees is very risky and can be extremely dangerous. It is impossible to understand the trees true limitations to handle abuse from a storm or climber ascending up the tree so a proper assessment must be completed to reduce unexpected dangers while performing any work.

Pruning involves removing partial or whole limbs for a variety of reasons. When done as the tree grows, you can avoid any unwanted rubbing branches and improve the shape and aesthetics of the tree. Pruning also thins out the canopy which allows light to penetrate more deeply, improving the overall health and strength of the tree. The thinning is also a must for allowing strong chinook winds to breeze through the tree instead of damaging branches or worse, knocking the tree over; both which require immediate attention. Finally, our regions trees also experience a variety of infections or diseases such as Black Knot. Proper care must be taken when pruning out infected limbs or branches in order not to spread the problem to neighbouring trees or have it return.

Tree Removals are often required when a tree is dying, has died, or has been significantly damaged or diseased. Or perhaps your healthy tree has grown into a lean that lingers over your property. In most cases, residential areas do not provide a suitable environment to fell a tree where it stands. Ascent of the tree to remove it piece by piece is the safest and most reliable method. Often times, additional rigging is required to lower heavy or precarious limbs out of danger.

Clean up is also part of either service unless otherwise requested. Trunk wood can be bucked into firewood or taken away if you prefer. Otherwise, all branches and twigs are moved off site for recycling or burning whenever possible.

Green methods that reduce the impact to our environment are used whenever possible. A battery operated saw is not only less offensive, but doesn’t require fuel or produce emissions. Waste management facilities are also avoided. I often have the ability to recycle the scrap wood if it’s not diseased or infected.
